The VanderHorst family created La Lomita Wines with winemaker Mikey Giugni. Together we craft unique, one of a kind wines you won't find anywhere else. Each wine is crafted to embody the surrounding areas found on the Central Coast of California.
La Lomita Ranch's Islay Hill Estate vineyard is the only vineyard that currently exists on the first of the Nine Sisters a volcanic morrow in San Luis Obispo County.
Mikey makes wines with intent, love, and a deep respect for the land, carrying with them the spirit of the place in which they come. When he was younger he recalls visiting his grandparents in Napa and stared at the rows of vines as they drove north. Years later while at Cal Poly, Mikey fell in love with the Edna Valley.
Looking for an excuse to stay in town he got a job at Chamisal Vineyards and quickly was engulfed by the world of wine. Mikey has drawn inspiration from the people he has met, the places he has visited and most of all the wines he drinks and the foods he eats. Mikey's personal wine making style is Old World. Inspired by simpler times, when less was more. He believes wine is made in the vineyard, and it is the winemakers job to express the unique terroir and vintage of each of the wines he makes.

We recognized La Lomita as a special ranch. Its uniqueness to the community, its history in Edna Valley, and its ancient volcanic geology. We are not strangers to the area, Alan is a Cal Poly graduate and the VanderHorst children have been a part of the local schools since 2012. Becca's dreams of creating a wedding venue and bed and breakfast transformed the ranch into what you see today. As the vines matured the vision of La Lomita became complete. We now offer our estate and single vineyard boutique wines to our guests and wine lovers alike. We welcome you to visit our ranch, breathe in views and enjoy a glass of wine.
